Kabina is advising Peel Land and Property Group on its Liverpool Waters development which encompasses many of the former commercial docks.
Kabina’s strategy of using a backbone of water-level walkways allowing for flexible, adaptable, ‘plug and play’, floating modules has been devised by Kabina in conjunction with Koen Olthuis of Waterstudio NL, Rotterdam. Koen is a world expert in using waterfronts and spaces imaginatively to meet the needs of cities.
Neil Cheston, MD, Kabina: “Around the world there are major cities with redundant docks and plenty of water space that can be used to restore the energy and vibrancy of the past. Docks used to be busy, bustling places. Sometimes cities experiment with watersports and yacht marinas but they don’t work well because they are for the few, not the many. What’s needed are more intelligently-designed facilities for everyone to enjoy. So why not breathe life back onto the water for the benefit of the whole community?”
