Kabina has issued its new research project in the form of a multi-layered map to demonstrate the great potential for new secure homes in the Thames Valley.
Guy Lane, co-founder: “Towns in England are invariably by the coast of by rivers. This means that there is typically flood land within those towns. Such land should be used to create the new homes the country needs rather than having developers create sterile dormitories in the Green Belt and between the towns. Our research shows that across five district boroughs in the Thames Valley there is huge scope to help meet new housing targets by locating developments within existing towns and infrastructure. Everyone seems to accept that the technology for flood-adaptive homes is perfectly acceptable so it’s now high time for the Government to amend its policies to allow responsible development in floodland.”
Kabina-type homes designed for the Thames Valley:
Neil Cheston, Co-founder and MD: “Kabina has designed a system for new flood-secure homes based on Dutch example and adapted for the UK landscape. The technology is simple and straightforward. Sites can be developed to allow for a a positive contribution to flood management and the 10,000 new homes we envisage could save HM Treasury £200m in investment in flood management”.
