Kabina® set up in 2014 to develop floating structures in docks, is now using its Dutch-based technical expertise to create new flood-resilient housing developments in UK flood zones, principally in the Thames Valley area.
Rick Deakin is leading the development team at Kabina®. He was previously Land Director at Crosby Lend Lease and Regional Manager at Wilcon. Deakin: “We want sites in all categories of flood zones, preferably in the Thames Valley area. We're looking for land any size over four acres for 40 homes or more."
Julian D'Arcy, Principal at Foundation Real Estate, is advising Kabina®. Julian was a founding member of Knight Frank's market-leading residential development and investment division and has been involved in the delivery of developments creating in excess of 10,000 residential units throughout the UK. D'Arcy: "We're in the process of getting our flood-resilient design approved by the authorities, we have access to a pool of capital and we're very keen to find sites. What's interesting is that many parties won't have considered selling their land because it's in a flood area. So we need to put the word out to alert vendors to this new category, particularly given the national need for new houses."
Kabina has issued its new research project in the form of a multi-layered map.
Kabina is advising Peel Land and Property Group on its Liverpool Waters development.
